Anthony Comello, Age 24, Arrested for Murdering Crime Boss Frank Cali

Police reported on March 16, 2019, they have arrested 24-year-old Anthony Comello in the murder of Gambino family crime boss 53-year-old Francisco Cali. Comello is in New Jersey and awaits extradition to New York.

Law enforcement has surveillance video that shows Calie exit his Staten Island home at 9:15 pm ET. As a set up to bring Cali outside, a man backed his car in Cali’ parked vehicle.

The video showed Cali and a man between the age 25-30 years old was seen talking to each other calmly and then shook hands. Cali can be viewed on video picking up a license plate. The gunman fired 12 shots at Cali, striking him six times.

Police have not determined a motive for Comello killing the crime boss. They say they can not say whether it was mob related. Investigators are looking into Cali’s business and private affairs, as stated at a news conference on March 14 by NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermont Shea.

Prior to Comello murdering Cali, the last high-ranking Mafia killing was in 1985. Paul Castellano who was head of the Gambino family was executed outside of Sparks Steakhouse in Manhattan. John Gotti is alleged to have ordered the hit, and he took over as head of the family.
